^ Aenima is their best album by far.

I'd start from the beginning if you've never heard them before. It's cool to see the progression they made in their sound from each album.

Hell nah. Listen to either Aenima, Lateralus or 10k days. Last one is the most accessible imo, but the other two are the better records.

Or that. Undertow and Opiate kick ass, but you'll be getting a pretty different sound once you get to Aenima

"hope those are available on Google Play"
It's available there. Since they uploaded the whole discography simultaneously on all digital platforms, I'd assume they are the same remastered version.

This is good, but a snooze fest compared to their best material. Has several stunning moments that often get lost in drudgery. Should have shaved 3 minutes off per song and we would be talking about it being near equal to Aenima or Lateralus. Overall its more consistent than 10,000 Days but has nothing as good as Vicarious or The Pot.

the best indicator to tell if an album is good is if every single person who gives it a 1.0 is also very actively participating in the comment section

Stop whatever you're doing and listen to Jambi. That song got me into Tool. If you dig it try either Lateralus or 10,000 Days.

Start of 7empest is meh. After hearing Maynard try to get fired up I’m happy he kept it chill most of the time. It does have a more rock vibe than most of the album, even in the note choice.
Chocolate chip trip feels out of place on first listen. The rest of the album sounds like a post metal album in need of a post metal vocalist. I love it instrumentally.

If you've never jammed Tool before you need to hear Stinkfist, 46 & 2, H, Aenima, Hooker with a Penis, The Grudge, Schism, Parabola, Vicarious, Jambi, and The Pot before jamming this record.

New Tool listeners should listen to Aenima first. Fuses the old and new, progressive, yet very self contained and aggressive songs with a great sense of melody.

I would replace Stinkfist with Eulogy on that list Hans

Maybe its just because it was a massive album when I was young, and thus was everywhere, but Aenima is one of the hardest 5s ever.

Regardless if anyone is disappointed by this or not, if Tool tours near you, go. They absolutely CRUSH live, even if Maynard is a giant control freak douche.

Possibly the most overrated band ever ahrd.
