The bridge game on this album is just fantastic. That "'where we gonna go', I whisper in the dark" lyric in I Think He Knows is perfection.

The only album of hers that I would put this behind is 1989. It's amazing how much it keeps you engaged throughout 18 songs. I think the changes in direction like "Soon You'll Get Better" actually help it in a way. So I think your review is well written, but I definitely have a different perspective.

cruel summer is one of her top 5 songs, but other than that, this lacks some of the high highs i look forward to in a taylor swift album. i didn't mind the singles (even me!), but their position in the tracklist is jarring and throws me off every time. agree with others who said this album could've ended at track 12.

Best songs here for me are Cornelia Street and Afterglow

Funnest tracks are I Think He Knows and Cruel Summer

Prettiest even if slightly vapid are the t/t and Death by a Thousand Cuts

If they cut five or six of the filler tracks this would be a die hard classic

Cruel Summer is pretty great. I personally would've just done the chorus again at the end instead of the bridge. More layered synth at the end would've been sick too but all is good

Personally, it's because I grew up knowing London very well and it feels like this gross 'london-blackface' thing

The bridge is my favourite moment on that song. That's the moment when I knew this album was going to blow my expectations out of the water.
