isn't there some kind of "compatibility mode" where it basically downgrades the OS as if it were shittier and less capable, then runs it through that module or whatever? it's been forever since i tried that, so i don't remember if it was Windows 7 or just Windows XP.

You can do the compatibility mode yeah, but a lot of the time it never works. I tried installing Spelling Jungle on Windows 7 back in the day and it ran at 2x the speed lol.

You have to use virtual box or whatever it's called. It reverts your computer to older editions of Windows. I've done it before but it's been awhile

Don't need to worry about that kinda stuff with Doom. You can just run a source port like GZDoom. Works perfectly on modern OS.

^tru dat.
The DOOM that came out last year (two years ago?) for XBOne/PS4 was actually pretty damn great. I was half-expecting another DOOM 3 debacle but the developers did a good job sticking to the game's roots. The addition of weapon/armor upgrades was nice, the level design was great, the map system was lovely. Just a good experience all around.
Haven't played any video games in a while but might have to revive the XBOne when DOOM Eternal comes out...

DOOM 3 rules, it's just different. It has the slower paced sci-fi horror thing going on, like Dead Space before Dead Space existed. They nailed the old school DOOM feel on the new one though, whilst also successfully bringing it into the modern day, it was a very welcome addition to the legacy of the franchise. I'm definitely looking forward to the new one.
I like how this thread is now DOOM discussion central.

nice discussion between a Lost Soul, a Cacodemon, and a Sudowoodo.
makes me want to change my avatar to, like, a Baron of Hell or a Pinkie or something.

Doom 3 was a good game. Just not a good Doom game. Doom 2016 was both.

Well yeah, the trick is you're supposed to pretend it isn't a DOOM game, which is maybe easier said than done I guess.
I used to have a Lost Soul av myself, was thinking of potentially migrating from my current av to another DOOM enemy, I could just recycle them for eternity and it'd still fit in with my username, sort of.

Ironically one the only places I don't use a Doom avatar is the Doomworld/ZDoom forums.

At least these guys have a stunning degree of talent and add on the sax as a unique jazzy texture but Jesus must every song be 8-10 minutes long??
