Sorry I didn’t realize that me not enjoying bland, unoriginal lyrics that articulate things in the least interesting possible way means that I oppose the message behind them, and that I should be obligated to “engage with the message” instead of forming an opinion on the way in which they’re expressed. no-one should have to tell you that you look like an idiot superficially 'critiquing' expression on the basis of [i don't enjoy these] bland, unoriginal lyrics [because they sound like what people say on twitter] without displaying the vaguest concessional awareness of the meaningful inspiration for both those tweets and this album. that 'message' is so obvious and pervasive in all the (q frequently, sure!) individually hackneyed lines that i find it very hard to imagine you don't follow it. i'm p confused and disappointed that you felt your standards of blandness (by precedent, highly suspect) were sufficiently more relevant to the album than, the specifics of its bopo narrative and the actually quite significant implications for that being broadcast to a mainstream audience for you to wilfully throw those out of the window and set out on reductionist spiel with your shallow takes on the sophistication and originality of its expression. this is mainstream pop music - of course it sounds paper thin if you approach it that way. all you're showing here is bad faith for lizzo's writing motivations and disregard for her target demographic, both of which are peak online armchairing
