Nah. It’s not sad in a devastating way at all. It just has a sort of aura of sadness, but not without some moments of optimism.
(Maybe melancholy more than sad)

Never heard of this artist, but your review makes a good enough case that I'll check this out. Sounds like something I'd enjoy

I think the sparser and more loose instrumentation lends itself to a dreary and introspective vibe that isn't quite captured throughout the whole of her previous albums, but it emphasizes her vocal strengths more consistently too.

I love her voice. I can see why some might not, but i find it endearing.

You love her voice because it’s like a cross between Fergie and Jesus! She really is amazing. For real though!

Just tried to give the new Periphery a token listen, made it two songs in before copyright killed my stream off and ended up playing this instead.
Thank you, copyright.

I’d rather make out with a dog’s shaved ass than listen to Periphery.

That was kinda the principle tbh - not a Periphery fan but sometimes you've gotta update your bad impressions of artists yaknow ;]

Although for some reason I 3.5d Omega back in the day and now have to listen to it again before I can justify changing the rating dammit

This is another excellent album from her. Don't worry about it being too sleepy. There are soft moments, and they are often very pretty. Jolts of guitar, twists and turns in tempo and her voice itself prevent this from ever getting near dull.

The Low Slow is the obvious highlight but Value Inn is the actual best song on here, possibly my SOTY. Also how is this not sad in a devestating way, a lot of the lyrics are about her struggling with self-harm to the point of permanent disfigurement. I love this but I don’t listen to it all the time because how depressing it can be.

Am I insane or does Value Inn play off the melody of the opener a bit?
If so that's fookin rad

Yeah she straight up talks about killing herself numerous times and calls herself grotesque and other shit
Idk maybe it's devastating to me because I've met her a few times and she is so warm and kind

This album is stellar. I listened to this incessantly over the past week. I love this thing; my only complaint is that I wish a couple tracks were a bit longer.
