@nolan I know we are moving on but I'd like to also bring up that there are much more overtly intentional examples of "whitening" than this relatively ambiguous tanning issue and I wonder how you feel about those if you think that people lightening their skin should be criticized as well. Two that come to mind are Indian women lightening their skin, and Korean and Japanese people getting eyelid surgery
