I wish this had a little bit less polished production for the vocals at least. It's a tough race between this and Visions as best Haken imo.

Hey, finally gave it a shot. It's better than I thought it would be. Not necessairly memorable (don't think I'll be coming back a lot to it) but fun nontheless.

While I’m listening to this I’m thinking “oh this is very good” but once it ends I don’t really come away with anything memorable

I feel the same, this was really fun on first listen, but I never really feel the need to come back to it, although I occasionally listen to Host, that‘s a neat song.

It's interesting how this band kind of apes other bands all the time. The first two albums are very Dream Theater-like. The Mountain is Gentle Giant with distortion at parts. Bound By Gravity is very close to being a Sigur Ros song. A Cell That Devides is basically an autotuned Leprous song. All of this is executed very well, but it makes me feel like Haken overall lack an own identity

Makes sense, I just wish they changed up something in the vocals, like you said, they are way too polished

Lmao now that I listen to it again you're so right bro, Cell truly sounds reminiscent of Leprous. No surprise it's been my favourite off the album

Yeah these guys love Leprous, just like their wierd rhythms on The Endless Knot and the lead-singer's feature on The Architect

Yea, Affinity already had some Leprous-isms in there. I love the record, but it's one of the reasons why Haken aren't one of my favorite bands of all time

@Djang I agree. I've liked most Haken songs I've heard but they didn't leave much impact. I prefer Leprous for this style of prog music.

It's funny how the only song I remembered from this is pretty much Leprous cover

I think you're wishing to hear other bands in them. Haken very much sounds like Haken.

If this wasn’t so processed/compressed/computerised/whatever it is it would be absolutely amazing.

I still love Haken for their ability to produce cutting edge progressive music. This album shows that something new has to be done before they’re just a Leprous clone djent fest. I have faith though, they don’t seem like the kind of band to keep phoning anything in, fingers crossed
