they might be overdoing the high register guitar flat fifths. like they've dug out this compositional system hardly anyone else is really using but it's becoming its own kind of orthodox.
hard to criticize cos all the new songs are killer but they seem less handmade n more habit-made

@Cimnele see I kinda totally agree, at this point there's these bits of chordings and phrasings that keep returning since Target Earth and Post Society and The Wake and it's all settling in as 'signature Mongrain/Voivod', I hope they keep pushing forward in more unexpected directions.
But as you say, new one's hard to criticize because all the songs are definitely great.

The new album is one of their most consistent, feels harsh to criticise a band for playing to their strengths.
Not every album has to be a new sound/forward thinking.
I actually think this album suffers from being too out there sometimes, the new reels it all in a bit and is better for it.

I love how they are pushing their modern sound to the best form. The Wake was incredible but the new is the pinnacle of their modern sound. Every track is sublime
