Production and song writing is tight on that album, especially enjoyed the mode of gauze live show

"Nothing sounded as worse as this album though...not even Macabre, TMOAB nor the original Uroboros, lol."
IMO, the original URO is more of shitshow since you couldn't even hear or notice some of the background vocals or instruments (i.e. no clue they used a mandolin on a 'X Track' until 2 years after the fact), and the space seemed unimaginably cluttered. It was also an album that notably upped the complexity of song structures and time signature wizardry, which were irrevocably minimized due to the sonic sludge covering the album.
That the remaster never saw a vinyl release further pisses me off, since I bought the shit master vinyl set. We should've been able to mail in proof of purchase for a remastered vinyl copy, or at least make a limited run / sale of them online and allow the collectors to get obsessive hunting for it.
At least with this album, they're playing more simplistic compositions so less is loss, I feel.

That depends on your speakers really. As bad as the original sounds, it sounds much better on the turntable for me personally due to how I’ve got my rig set up with a good set of shelf speakers w/a shelf subwoofer. At least I can hear a bit more instrument separation and definition on the subtle nuances that were buried but brought forward in the remaster. A vinyl repress using the remastered and expanded mix and tracklisting plus the Undecided remake would be fantastic but will never happen.

Like the original more than the remastered for most songs, Bugaboo and it's intro, Reiketsu are the only remastered songs I kept.
Saw Diru in philly back in 13 or so, ghoul tour I believe? Great show, and I guess I didnt expect the cosplayers

Reiketsu and Stuck Man are the two I sometimes preferred on the original actually. Thought the tightly tuned snare (but not of St. Anger proportions) on those two tracks fit well actually.

Gauze sounds better than all their pre-Tue Madsen work. There are other visual kei albums with great production too.
That mic drop video... Epic and sad at the same time...

Gauze sounds very good, especially the crash. I got a good laugh out the Mic drop...in insight I wouldn't if I knew it would lead to a 40 minute wait.

I read Kaoru's statement too. It's sad that this happened... I'd also be angry as fuck at the venue, even moreso after that blameshifting statement. My friends who went to the Paris show the day before said it was great (if you ignore most of the annoying fans at the front rows).
Regarding the production, aside from being mixed a bit too loud I don't find anything particularly wrong with Kisou. Macabre and this one are by far the worst sounding ones, and MOAB and the original Uroboros are pretty bad but not as much. Everything else sounds good to me, with the Uroboros remaster and DSS sounding the best.

Toshiya wrote more about the show for A Knot. He felt awful about it and said it was like playing back in the indie days.

If anyone played with the technical trainwreck of that show you went to Calc, they'd better feel really awful about it. Wouldn't want to wish it upon any band regardless if I dislike them. I think if anything, this proves why DEG are probably better off where they are now and touring overseas every 3-5 years and focusing on playing live domestically. They don't seem to be in their element during overseas shows and I can't blame them really if they don't like touring overseas as a result.

Late to reading this all but fuck, that's a shit one for you Calc.

That sounds bloody awful. I saw them on the Arche tour in 2015 and they were great. The mix was a bit dodgy, especially at the start of the set, but there weren't sound issues on this scale.
I didn't see much of fans behaving badly, either, though I never bothered with the VIP stuff.
I gave the tour a miss this time because I don't like the new album and there weren't enough Uroboros/DSS/Arche songs for me to consider it worth going to. I'm glad I decided not to, so I only have positive memories of them.

I'm not bothered, really. They made 3 classic albums; that's more than most bands do.
But, then, I didn't spent £200 on a disappointing show and VIP meeting.

The setlist was one of the reasons why I was hyped since I wanted a well-rounded setlist from all their eras.

Well, I'd love to hear the Macabre remake live. But, other than that, it's those three albums for me.

What about the rest of the Unraveling EP? I don't see why you'd reject so many songs from their previous catalog. Mushi, Embryo, 304, Drain Away, Ain't Afraid to Die, Audience Killer Loop, Gyakujō Tannō Keloid Milk...all songs that are stunning and would fit well into a setlist full of Uro and Arche songs.

Sucks about that VIP meeting. I was lucky to meet them all except Kyo for the price of a GA ticket in Boston back when they first started touring for Uroboros. They played at the Wilbur Theater in Boston and after the show the band lined up near the stage for greetings and signatures. I think Kyo was busy helping out with equipment and didn't come down until later. As a bass player I was mostly interested in meeting Toshiya. Told him I loved his playing and he gave me a shy "Thanks."
Found a vid. Whoa, 2008! They opened with Obscure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4V5S5rIq-o

Yeah, back in the 2008-2011 days they were more receptive to fans...now not so much.

Probably because a lot of them are fucking crazy
