I know nuance well Asleep but perhaps the nuance is a bit too disguised here that I just lose my patience. The vocals are homogenous as well (not boring per say) but it's just too much of the same, generally speaking. I think I'd be more keen to the nuance if there was at least some added vocal variation to keep my attention, then I'd enjoy it a fair bit more.

It’s been really interesting to see how many people have had to break this up to digest it. For me, that’s an aim that’s been achieved amongst much more that has eluded in this discussion. There is no “formula” but there is a process that will continue to evolve regardless of how drastic that evolution is between records. Get over the length and listen to the record. Or don’t.
I’m down for making records until I can’t conjur inspiration. But I’m not out to pump records out with drastic variations because I feel like there has to be.

Band is trying way to hard to be heavy and math, they sound like if you took meshuggah and strapping young lad, then gave them all downsyndrome. I don’t think there’s one legit riff on the album, just 8 string guitars constantly hitting that zero fret. Garbage.
