"I'd find it hard to believe that someone who likes brand new, manchester orchestra, et al can find no redeeming qualities about this."

That's probably what it is, I don't like either of those bands.

Supposing you meant a complete miss compared to expectations or something...

Let me know what you think Rad, I never know what to expect from you. We like a lot of the same stuff but usually disagree on the rating.

Well, it's not a high rating, so that already indicates a 'miss'. The album is not godawful, but it just didn't strike any chord with me whatsoever.

Fair enough. If you're into more melodic/pleasant folksy stuff and feel like giving these guys a second chance, consider checking their other project, Tigers on Trains.

Tigers on Trains is definitely their more consistent project.

Eh I dunno. Both projects are pretty damn good. ToT may be slightly more consistent but this band's peaks trump theirs.

I dunno that anything RoW is as good as Grandfather. And NMHN is just a big bore. Also aside from Birdless Cage this didn't really click for me either so far.

Now that my dissing of Sundials has unleashed a torrent of meh about the album itself...

You all need to give more love to Yume. Fantastic fucking track.

Yeah that's one of my absolute favorites by these guys. That guitar solo at the end is so well-placed.

I love that guitar whine that punctuates the first verse of Dialogues so damn much

not sure if you guys have seen any of those "March Madness, but Bands' Songs" brackets floating around, but now that TRoW have at least 64 songs, I made one for 'em

placement was randomized other than pitting HOB tracks against their HBT counterparts in round 1.

Have fun, good luck: https://i.imgur.com/p79iZVT.png

In some parts this reminds me of As cities burn - come now sleep.
