Well depends on your idea of the meaning of quirky, he definitely doesn't sing in a normal fashion. He jumps from singing, talking, screaming, growling, shrieking. Not so much in the last 2 releases. IMO that's quirky

he's just a good vocalist tbh

This is great. At first the muddled production and lack of much of anything melodic in the midsection had me disappointed but on the second go around it really clicked. Definitely a lot better than their debut LP, which is the only other GJ I heard. Glad I came across this before making my 2017 list.

Funny how people have very different opinions about the strongest/weakest songs on this album. Closer is my favorite song here lol. For me, Cut and Run is the song that feels like it doesn't belong, maybe because of how abruptly it ends the album. Conscience sounds like the real closing song, while Cut and Run sounds like an encore after the t/t interlude.

Daryl made this band for me when i first heard them. To this day hes written some of the most obscure and crafty lyrics ive ever read. His voice has always given me shivers, one of my favorites of all time. Though he absolutely over enunciates words or all together pronounces them incorrectly. I love it and i think its awesome and unique. Though i can see how he's hard to warm up to.

Annnnd thats why i dont enjoy this album as much as my gj bros. Not enough daryl being daryl. Thats why gyro likes it ha. Also not enough signature beck licks. His solos and riffs on here dont sound like gjs style at all. Cant believe i just said solo and gj in the same sentence -.- not a fan
