Metaphor is pretty good, though it contradicts people who often say an album will grow on you if you didn't like it at first listen. For example, Jane Doe apparently grows on you. My first bite into that particular steak wasn't too good (a couple weeks ago).

Metaphor sucks the more I think about it. The steak sucked? Cool. How about the beer? Or your baked potato? Was the service shitty too?

An album isn't a steak, it's a fucking meal. Try it all before you put your shit ass, half baked rating on it.

I'm probably the only person who thinks Citadel is the best of their three albums so far.

Nah, Citadel's the best of their full lengths. Doesn't have the high-points of Portal of I but also doesn't have the dead weight. This is comfortably their worst.

Shame I'm not into this kind of metal anymore. Definitely appreciate what it does, but it just ain't my cuppa tea anymore :[

I've actually always been curious of that statement... I remember this guy in college that went to organic chem with me telling me "I used to like the Misfits in high school, I'm not into that anymore, now I only listen to hip hop..." I mean, I don't see why can't you listen to both... Once in a while I enjoy me some Millencolin or NOFX...

Taste can change, man. I used to love some bands that now I can't even listen to. Some I used to love that are just okay to me. Just happens.

As far as metal goes, I've pretty much listened to only black metal for new music so the cleanliness of the production makes it feel a little one dimensional when it comes to atmosphere. That and I can't seem to get into clean vocals with heavy instrumentals anymore as it just sounds so cheesy.

Favourite part are the quieter moments.

Cleans with this band have always been hit or miss with me. They miss more on this one than the last two, imo. Still a pretty decent album. Gonna jam one more time before I rate, but I'm only feeling a 3-3.5.

But I also think the cleans lack any real emotion to it. It's almost like the man is doing a soul freestyle over the instrumentals rather than putting some actual soul into the vocals

Yeah, they do seem to lack any real feeling, but that's prog for you ;-)

Eyrie is a reallyy sweet song, wouldn't call it "mindblowing" though, heard better epic songs in my life

Weird, I felt the guy has definitely improved his technique compared to earlier

Idk, I just feel like they were placed and executed better before. That's just me, though. He's talented, no doubt, but he has always been hard for me to enjoy.

Yall weren't kidding about Eyrie. That is a very good song and all the death metal comforts my frail masculinity.

Yeah Eyrie is best song on here imo,

Portal of I is still their best imo, i freaking love how you can pick and choose with that album, you dont have to start with Tapestry necessarily, every song is independent, if you want to skip to Plague Flowers, skip to Plague Flowers, hell if you want to just listen to Petrichor, you can do that seemingly without missing out on anything in the rest of the album, every song is so complete its astounding, of course the hardcore fans will listen to the whole thing but one or 2 tracks can certainly satisfy an appetite

(i dont know if this makes sense tbh)

This was very underwhelming compared to their previous two albums. Need to listen to this a few more times for sure. Still not a fan of their clean singers voice three albums in, wish they would get rid of him already.
