it's cinematic with hi-def production, has slowcore and post-rock influences, slick aesthetic that appeals to the pitchfork crowd... you get the picture. i can see elite funeral doom fans turning their noses up at this

they play clean guitar slow at points ffs, calling it slowcore or post-rock is a massive stretch considering almost every band in this genre does that. as for 'slick aesthetic' frankly i really don't know what you're getting at with that. i'll give you cinematic and high-def but it makes sense with this album, and they're certainly not the only band doing that and it certainly isn't squeeky clean either.

Yeah, i dont hear any slowcore or post rock. And the production isnt any cleaner than most bands in this style.

It has nothing to do with xcorex, its stuff like Red House Painters, Codeine, Bedhead, etc.

And why is this review "stupid"? Nobody likes to back that up with anything factual, which leads me to believe you're just butthurt about the rating

I somehow made it through both discs during my usual mindless drives this weekend. I will often admit to liking terrible music, but I'm afraid I can't make that exception here. I drove from goddamn Cumberland, RI all the way to Princeton, MA and by the time the album was through, I was convinced I was in Montana. I suck at guitar, but give me a week and I'll come up with something more interesting than this.

I mean it's stupid because Xeno wrote it,

I don't see what's hard to understand about that

Yeah I think we're getting to the core of the problem here.
