Agreed Mongi, I was surprised by how much of this was annoying on first listen. It's more enjoyable on repeated listens I found, especially the deeper cuts.

I won't compromise my opinion and raise my rating, much as I'd like to, just because they're one of my favorite bands and LC being one of the most important and special albums to me in recent years.

I'm also looking forward to reading dan's take on this.

Boney this has only really been mixed on this site, everywhere else seems to love it. It's also maintaining a 3.8 average on here.

Talons I don't think you understood because what you said is the opposite of what I said.

Looking at the Metascore though the critical response is stronger than I thought actually, but on RYM it only has a 3.23 currently which is fairly low compared to their other albums.

I rated it today and it had dropped to a 3.7 then, need to apologize to Homme for the mishap if i ever see him.

Boney user sites like this and RateYourMusic critically analyze every album and have tons of people who criticize and complain about them, but nearly every professional review of this is an 8/10 score or higher, that's what I meant.

Most new albums by bands of different fanbases and popularity levels have just as many commenters on here with 2.5 or lower scores, complaining about whatever they thought was lacking as often as anywhere else, but the rating average of the majority of users is what most people really think, of sputnik users at least. This has 3.8, so even here most people find this at least great, or excellent.

it's a grower, you guys..

I knew RYM would hate the fuck out of this lol. That site is my goto for ratings, but it seems as though the critics will praise sad and depressing albums and anything fun or happy sounding will score no higher than 3.5 these days.
