Yeah I'll jump this to a 4 overall. Keep it going. The first half is mind blowing. Strangest Thing is so good that the second half is a let down.

Does anyone feel like the vocalist is at least trying to emulate Dylan in certain spots? The delivery in some songs is remarkably similar (especially Holding On), for me at least

Yes mate it’s been mentioned over the last 12 or so pages and in the reviews, artistic comparisons and marketing for the album as a whole. Funny you should’ve picked up on it.

Have you listened to the previous two?

I think I'd have been blown away...if only the previous two albums didn't exist. As it is this is quality...but familiar as you like.

Dream Syndicate is a world beater though.

Love it but it has already grown off a tad.

Yeah dipped back into the one prior and it was as I remember. Far too 80s to be taken seriously.
Slave Ambient is great.

Tunes on this, as stylised as they are unfurl into absolute beauts

'Slave Ambient' is officially my favourite now.

I'll give this another few spins this week, see if it does a Fleet Foxes.

previous album was better. One hell of a snoozefest this is. Lyrics are bland, instrumentally it's like safe-daddy-rock meets by-the-numbers shoegaze, the singer can barely sing plus he can only express one or two emotions with his voice. Considering the hype I consider giving it more chances, but I'm not looking forward to it.

The vocals and drumming are pretty monotonous I can't deny that

first half of this is fantastic but it really loses steam in the second half, and yeah it definitely drags on a bit

Much as I've cooled on this I'm still not convinced Thinking of a Place isn't the greatest song of this millennium.
