I just tried again and had to stop after 3rd track or something. Musically meandering and the vox reeeeeeally killed it. It's all over the place with like subpar Scott-Kelly imitations, guy crying in a mic and there's this octave higher layer often present that's annoying as hell maybe trying to dilute the fact that he's so off-pitch most of the time

This however feels like John took the elements he brought to Agalloch and funneled them into a mostly melodic bm aesthetic with doomy undertones. There's enough variation to make each track stand out and it's just solid songwriting throughout which made multiple listens always rewarding. Stoked to hear what they come up with next

the khorada album's best tracks are at the back end. the last four tracks are much better than the first three.

the sad thing is that there's so much unrealized potential in both this and khorada.

Yeah I'm hurting for some new Pillorian. Really hope there's an announcement by the end of the year.

Eh, whatever. That's not like he's calling for a Jewish genocide or something.

This kinda sucks, but aren't all these guys just hired guns anyway? John writes everything I'm pretty sure.

you should know by now as a public figure not to say dumbass stuff like that so I can't say I feel bad about it. According to other people in the community he's been an edgy twat for ever, and the other Agalloch guys seem to have implied as much.

still such a dumb thing to say on social media, but it's absurd that half the band left immediately, that is kind of hilarious. Of course it's possible they were just waiting for the perfect excuse to leave if he really is an asshole.

Well I was coming in here to say the same thing. Love John’s music but god damn what an idiotic thing to do even if he’s not being serious. :[
