Honestly I think the ones who are "screaming for blood" are probably under the age of 20...
I'll always support this band because of my nostalgic (and historic) ties to the music, a bad record that I don't enjoy isn't really enough to sway my opinion(s) very much.

It's no secret Linkin Park likes to try new sounds for the hell of it, but "One More Light" was pushing it too far. It's not so much that they decided to go pop, but the fact it was *bad pop.* I get that they're older now and don't have the same experiences they did almost 20 years ago, and that's understandable, but the album had no redeeming qualities. They don't have to be nu-metal to write good music, but they at least have to be Linkin Park.

The album was released just for publicity. Looking at it big picture, a notorious rock band writes a pop album with the same staff who handle Justin Bieber. This is literally the cheapest form of controversy ever created. It's no secret rock fans hate Justin Bieber, so what is going to happen? News outlets are going to trip over themselves to sell the whole "Linkin Park Sells-Out" headline and a bunch of rock fans are going to buy into it, tweet their hatred, and Linkin Park will cash in on it. Chester Bennington is going out of his way to keep the fire rolling by stating stuff about 'resenting his fans' and all of the cheap phrases that follow. You can tell by the quality of songs that Linkin Park was doing everything possible to sell themselves as generic rock sell-outs. Now you have angry pop fans against angry rock fans building the Linkin Park franchise through YouTube reviews and twitter hashtags.

I listen to black metal regularly and from time to time I enjoy listening to Justin Bieber's Love Yourself.

Thank you for this review. I myself being a fan of LP experimental side was not so big on this album, but I think everyone is overreacting to this album is like ludicrous. First you know it's Linkin Park so like lol nu-metal and then god forbid they write a f*cking pop album.
Yea i'm not even that big on this record but the butt-hurt over this is somewhat bewildering. Though pretty amusing too.

album sucks but One More Light is one of their best songs easily

The album doesn't provide many redeeming qualities. Like I said, they decided to write *bad* pop, which is why it sucked. Not to mention the album is simply a cash-in on a dysfunctional fan base, but we'll get to that later. Linkin Park may be experimental, but the album didn't experiment with much. They took the most common base formula for pop and didn't even try to tailor it into their own style.

Honestly, it wasn't completely unexpected. He was dealing with issues of being molested, alcoholism and drug issues, and finally Chris Cornell's death, that and the constant harassment regarding the reception of this album probably pushed him over the edge. But no-one except Chester could ever say for sure why.

I've never heard this album only the singles and I never will, if we're gonna remember and respect Chester let's remember him for all of the killer singles LP have released over the years

R.I.P chester, i will remember him for the other 6 album, on the other hand this wasn't a good record
