"Man, he's not handling the backlash well."
He's not making the band look great at the minute, it has to be said.

This really isn't good. The singles were probably the best songs on the album and they're as mediocre as pop gets. There's no substance to this album at all. The title track is decent but I think it's best to just leave out all the rest.
I don't see how they can get so defensive about people saying they sold out. It's clear as day that this wasn't made for any creative purpose. If this had been made after Living Things, it might have been a logical progression. But they literally just came off of The Hunting Party and stating in interviews how they realized they were a "rock band". All while using "going back to their roots" as a selling point. I'd love to see the sales figured on that album because I bet that whole shtick didn't work as well as they would have liked. It's impossible not to scoff at the complete 180 they've pulled with this record. Either they really did want to make generic pop and they were phoning it in on The Hunting Party or they're just chasing whatever sound they think will keep them relevant the most. Either way, they shouldn't be pissed that fans recognize their bullshit when they hear it.

No, first weeks had about 100k, but anyway, that's splitting hairs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunting_Party_(album)#Commercial_performance).
Point is, despite performing very well for an album in that style, sales have been significantly weaker by their standards.

Yeah Korn did the same exact thing. Tried to go back to their roots (like in Hunting Party) by releasing an album titled "Remember who you are" (subtle) and then immediately afterwards released a dubstep album. So this is Linkin Park's korn-step is what I'm saying

I'm quite surprised about youtube ratings as well. Seem to be ay more positive than I thought. And I was even more surprised how much hate Suicide Silence got. I mean, it's complete bs, but so many fans of the band dissed it even though they didn't become something completely different.

For reals tho idk if you're just messing but idt Opeth sold out, they would've been much better off keeping their traditional sound

And I thought Phil Lebonte didn't like criticisms all that well.

I haven't listened to this album or anything off it but as for everything up until this point is concerned- sold out? Really? I hate most of the post-Meteora material but I don't know about "selling out", making shit music =/= selling out, they were already pretty big and making millions from almost the moment Hybrid Theory released.
