'Crow' is a worthy AOTY so far, I mean I think that's the consensus opinion at this point. I've got a lot of 4.5s so far - a couple will probably drop to 4s.

There aren't really any songs on this though, are there? Sounds nice and the studio work is pretty, but it's just sketches.

Maybe I just... hate Spoon? I was steaming while I was listening to this album, thinking about the hateful things I was going to write in this thread.

I even had this awesome acronym prepared: '*Seriously Pretentious Overrated Odious Nimrods*'.

My issue with them is that I read an interview with Britt dissing on late period R.E.M. Keep your mouth shut Daniel.

Better songs with lyrics that focus on shotguns than 'Shotgun': 'Shotgun' by Limp Bizkit, 'Toy Guns' by Tokyo Police Club.

I did skip 'They Want My Soul' though. Maybe I'll check it out. Can't be worse than this uninspired turd.

I'm not type to give an album a 1 just because it's not for me. Objectively it's a nicely produced album, but subjectively it gives me the shits. I feel like such a talented band shouldn't have to rely on simple grooves and sketches instead of detailed songs. Also I hate Britt but try not to let that get in the way.

There's been a lot of good music so far this year, but nothing that has hit me as AOTY material. Like I love that Jens Lekman album but it's never going to be AOTY.

This is still such a fantastic album imo - one of Spoon's best. When this was first release I thought it was a guaranteed contender for AOTY and even though it's not quite that anymore, I still consider to be top 3 for sure.
