Always thought the Townsend stuff was a bit too dark and muddy sounding

that production on the older stuff from him tho makes it feel more like a journey to ancient times or some mythological cool shit

I get the hate towards the S/T, but it had 4 or 5 songs that could replace 4 songs on this album....

Yeah Hypatia Rising would definitely take Enter Oblivion's spot.

Last of the Monuments and Beneath it Sleeps are some of the best songs DH has written in a looooooong time.

Whoa whoa, I really like Enter Oblivion. Aside from the main riff I honestly wasn't that impressed with Hypatia Rising.

I might swap None Of This Is The Truth out for Lost For Life though.

Jk, just listened again. Even the songs I like on that album are way weaker than anything here.

The album they did under Sumerian has some of the absolute most cringe-worthy garbage they've ever written. I was flat-out disgusted with some of the material there. I really liked The Great Oppressor and a bit of Hypatia Rising, though, which made it all the more depressing. This is consistently good all the way through.

I do agree that there needs to be more melodic material, but not Sumerian melodic. The closer fucking soars.

John Henry is such a good vocalist. Fuck.

He is one of my faves. He is a really sound and genuine dude too - gave me a free Darkest Hour shirt and poster when I met him a few years back.

I'm still confused is this a full concept album with a story or a concept album in the sense that all the songs deal with a overarching issue like in this case a lot of end of the world scenarios?

I love when an album lets me know in the first 5 seconds that I'm about to get my ears fucked.

Does anyone know if Our Lord and Savior Kris Norris played on any tracks other than Beneath It Sleeps?
