Damn just one year older than me, figured you were older for some reason :]

being a teenager in the 2010's left my conflicted coz i'm grateful for all the music that i have at the tip of my fingers and all the new subgenres and shit but also missed seeing so many legendary acts in their prime/ altogether

All that music at your fingertips. You earning pocket money to pay for that broadband connection ya entitled brat bastard :D
|

mate there's no fucking way i would be able to afford the 2810 albums i have (Downloaded) on itunes at least not while studying and only working part time.
Every now and then i'll buy band merch to support and go to shows but digital music is just a lot more convenient than CD's/Vinyl.
yeah i split the broadband bill with housemate.

Fair dos. I'm the same dude. I pay for an iTunes subscription and have cut down on the physical purchases. I bought this though obvs and my hand is hovering over the purchase button for The Mekon for 30 quid but I think I'll just burgle doofs place when he gets his copy.
|
| |
yeah I thought about subscribing but I honestly like the freedom of not having my files tethered to an apple subscription where i can do what i like with em, even tho i only ever play them thru itunes or ipod.
I bought the latest Behemoth album last year but it made me realise how obsolete CD's are at least in my life style where I can play phone through the car stereo anyway. Now it just collects dust.
Don't you live in Aus?

I've upped the number of physical CDs I'm buying - the amount you save on older albums more than covers the 10% higher price of new releases, so I just put a mix in the ol' Amazon cart. I've found a load of decent used albums for less than 50p

Brit mate but it's the goal to retire out there, I love aus or at least I did when I backpacked around there in the days when dan dude and boney were still in nappies.
|

yeah i must say after spending a few months in london, Aus is (in general) much more relaxed/spacious living. I was in an apartment around Farringdon station and it felt claustrophobic af but still enjoyed it until the novelty wore off. I also found the food in general to be pretty shithouse but again maybe i just went to the wrong places and ordered the wrong things but i've heard other say the same

MY other half's sister, who was there long enough to get her passport, and my 27 year old cousin who has been there 2 years now, are both coming back from aus, neither liked it enough to stay so the place isn't for everyone. I liked Sydney but I could already feel if I was there much longer I'd get a bit bored - it's all food fairs and exercise, very beach head mentality from what I took in. If you had mates/family from home or you were born there it'd be fine but I think I'd struggle. I liked the area around Cairns more in a Florida sort of way, but again, could I be a country boy again? Don't think so, and that really is a place where everything that moves is trying to kill/eat you.
Strangely they both said the impact of immigration and the attitudes towards immigration were BOTH worse than the UK that surprised me. A lot of anti Asian sentiment...and apparently some of it is justified :/ Who knows? I wasn't there long enough to give a sh1t

The early Williamson material is hair raising stuff. Best use of samples ever tbh.

Nice one Zak! Which one should i get to next after this?

It's all essential Dan dude. They all follow the same formula of repeated beats, loops and lyrics that decimate. Some take time to work their magic but they all get there in the end.
I'd go for Key Markets next but break it up with the early Jason Williamson stuff that has all been deleted but you can listen to on youtube.
The early stuff comprises samples from the pistols, The Who, Wire, 60s soul classics and the like again all looped and jay really does let loose with both barrells.
The tunes Chefs Omlette, Suedeheade, The Mekon, RnB Paul, Chop Chop Chop, Teacher faces porn charges, Riot down in Soho are all unbeatable.
|
| |
Noted! Yeah gonna tackle Key Markets next - classic album cover imo, something about it i absolutely love :]

just looked up mod subculture, either i misinterpreted it or they're 100% using it sarcastically in reference to themselves
