I totally get why people don't like this. This probably is their least emotional album but it's also their most technically proficient. Kinda like Dream Theater I guess.

Idk something just clicks with me on here though. I want them to do more songs like The Brain Dance, that song is just incredible.

Yea that's the main gripe I have with this. I mean, it's very good musically and technically, and these guys are obviously very talented, but it doesn't invoke any sort of feeling on my part. I just find myself not being able to enjoy it even though it's obviously a good album.

It's a great album to do work to, but ya doesn't invoke the feels for me like s/t and JOM do.

^Yeah I think this would make great live album. They are more than efficient to translate their music live. But for a casual listen this does very little to me, even though the songs are great and all. Maybe watching them play the new songs would add some emotional value to it.

Yeah I definitely didn't have a great appreciation for Ectogensis, I thought it was just a filler track. Hearing it live opened my ears, the solo was amazing.

Mammoth's Deviations was the best instrumental prog album of 2016 that I heard, especially after being disappointed by this. Sounds way more fresh and unique.

Gonna have to check that then. I liked this, but it hasn't had me coming back like the last few.

interesting choices for the last two songs as they have no energy and as a result it kind of limps along at the finish. album has grown on me though.

Pretty boring. I think the first 10 seconds of each song is the best. At least the synth intros are kind of catchy.
