this will probably make my list of 50, definitely will make my 100 list
however, there are a few songs that don't hit as hard. in particular, i've never really cared for "heaven sent" because it seemed like brand new-lite. but the songs that are strong are SO STRONG

I thought the new song wasn't bad ... it was just very commercial

That's exactly why its bad tho. What made these guys special was their aggressive approach to the standard "catchy pop punk" formula.

their downfall might have been going on tour with Seaway and seeing how successful they are working within such an easy catchy pop formula

The emotion in this just doesn't endure in what they do now. I sadly find it all rather soulless at this point.

Friday Forever's lyrics are even more cringeworthy

I agree, it really sucks too because this album was a game changer for pop punk imo, or at least a game refresher. TAD really only had I Can Feel It Calling and Miming In The Choir going for it. Some elements of other songs I liked but those are the only two I like throughout their respective runtimes.

Don't know if this is necessarily game-changing, but it was a wonderful blend of emotional songwriting with pop sensibilities. It was balanced, whereas now it's skewed towards pop almost exclusively. The emotion that does get expressed comes across as manufactured.

A game changer? I liked this album fine enough, but you all give it wayyyy too much credit. It was pretty run of the mill in the end.

Perhaps game-changing wasn’t the right phrase lol, essentially I meant like other pop punk bands should look at this album and strive to reach songwriting on its level. Also as you probably could tell by my rating, I made a damn good connection with this album so that’s definitely skewing my perspective a bit.

anyone who loves this album should do themselves a favor and check the new EP by Introvert. The closing track "All I Know" is insanely good and has been flooring me

Will take that under advisement for sure. Need a band to fill the void these guys have left.
