"I hope they can keep this focus and consistency going without Eddie :/"
he was very underestimated but was actually the backbone for a lot of their material, deeply rooted hxc dude the scene owes him a good deal, like I don't even think Brand New would have existed without him

yeah he always kinda seemed like the lynchpin of this band to me, along with Mark. I know it's no-one's fault and Eddie had some personal stuff going on but it's a real shame

How anyone likes anything after the first three records is beyond me

Just learned about 'Terrible Things' for the first time today and I am very impressed with that Fred lead project. Bummer the didn't continue on.

the Fred era of TBS slapped and all but I'm glad he left when he did, I can only hear so much of his songwriting before it starts to grate on me for some reason

I kinda get what you mean there.
I am also of the unpopular opinion that New Again slaps which happens to be right when Fred hopped out of the band, cut tracks 6 through 9 and you have a SOLID release, also Everything Must Go is in their top 5 tracks of all time:
1. "New Again"
2. "Sink into Me"
3. "Lonely, Lonely"
4. "Summer, Man"
5. "Swing"
10. "Carpathia"
11. "Everything Must Go"

I can understand some people not loving Capital M-E as much as I do, but how could you leave Where My Mouth Is out of that list?

New Again has always been good, you just need to cut Capital ME and Cut Me Up Jenny for Winter Passing and Didn't See That Coming (literally some of their best b-sides ever and super important to the album as a whole)

@cormano I will give it a full re listen, it has been years.
@rowan I’ll check the b sides.. honestly not sure I ever have because they aren’t super streaming friendly

I would replace Catholic Knees and Carpathia with both those songs and it'd be a perfect record
there's also a bonus track called Long Time Comin that no one has ever talked about

Carpathia is phenomenal, get out of here.

I dig the chorus tho

Carpathia is one of my favourites from that whole era yea
Catholic Knees is fine, not a classic or anything but I will always take it over Cut Me Up Jenny (perhaps literally their worst song of all time)

Winter Passing is definitely worthy of making the album, didn't dig past spotify so couldnt hear the others yet.
Gave the whole album a couple more spins:
Capital M-E, Cut me up jenny, catholic knees and money where your mouth is are still just not doing it at all for me. All the others held strong except I found Sink Into Me a bit more annoying than I remember it.

if you're on spotify you can hear Didn't See That Coming from Live From Orensanz, which is the only time they ever played it, in fact that whole record is great, Matt Fazzi really shines on some tracks

Live From Orensanz is phenomenal. I'll revisit and pay more attention to Didn't see that coming. The live version of everything must go is immense.

Feather, you're not alone, I think NA is one of their best.
