Great album. Their first one was much stronger, but I am just glad there is a band like this out there. For as many instruments this band has, the song compositions never get messy and I can always hear each instrument very clearly. I appreciate what this band is doing.

@Conmania "brass section is the best part about this band. really dislike the guitar "breakdowns" as well"

I'm the same, tried both albums and really can't stand those types of guitar breakdowns, shame really cause I love the jazz stuff and quite like the vocalist too!

Can someone point me to some guitar breakdowns? I don't hear what you guys hear. This sits between a 4 and a 4.5 for me for now. Favorite album of the year thus far.

4:44 in caverns off the top of my head

I'd say the 'breakdowns' are a nice change of pace in some songs and they are not that abused.

I wouldn't say the first is better, composition-wise though

Phenomenal stuff here, its not the jazz- math prog fusion, its the fusion of catchy hooks with prog instrumentals which makes this album great.

I must reiterate that Mr. Invisible is the highlight. And for those kinds of guitar riffs like 4:44 in caverns it makes the whole thing more dynamic.

I love the eclectic mix. You have some really awesome breakdowns followed by really Zappa-esq horn lines. And as for the vocalist, I feel like he does a nice job with the delivery, and my god does he have an ear for a catchy line. Seriously, he's the mayor of Hook City.
