Yeah, he saved Amorphis. This album is arguably the best of their Tomi era. Up there with Silent Waters.

Their older stuff is much different. Tales From the Thousand lakes is a Finnish doom metal classic. Elegy is fantastic, and probably my favorite Pasi era Amorphis, but I have a huge nostalgic connection to that one. Tomi era, this and Silent Waters are best, but there are plenty of great tracks on everything from Eclipse to this.

looks like i'm in for a fun night! i've heard circle and silent waters but i think this one beats those other two, rather narrowly

skyforger is another great treat from them. they got very proggy on that one.

the best thing they ever put out is the comp Magic and Mayhem however. its newly recorded classic amorphis songs with tomi on vocals. even some oldschool dm songs and its just pure brilliance.

Elegy has very cool instrumentation, but the vocals may not be your of cup of tea.
