weird.
it's pretty close to frances so idk why people love frances so much and shit on amputech.

I love this record so much, but there are so many unnecessary parts in songs, such as the atonal bashing at the end of "This Apparatus...", so I did myself a favour and cut the songs from the initial 61 min runtime to a 49 min runtime, and now I can enjoy this even more. I've never done this before with any band, but I just can't stand those irritating moments.

I'd say go for Frances and Bedlam simultaneously. Bedlam's really direct like this one, but Frances is a very bizarre and interesting record.

I couldn't disagree more with this review. While I respect your opinion I would argue that the point of this album was to make people uncomfortable and if it succeeds in that it is a good thing. I also can't believe you say that Flea and Jon Theodore don't "mesh" well. I know this is 5 years old but I need some sort of further explanation...

I finally got the chance to listen to this over the weekend. Spent Saturday and Sunday with it on play because I've wanted to hear their music for such a long time. =)
Loved the production with the dribbles of vocal effects scattered in moments of each song. Guitar sounded really vibrant and the drumming served well too. =) Mostly loved how the song-writing sprung out of a box and thanks to the odd vocal style; lyrics aren't necessary. The songs change enough with a lovely coherency and delicacy to it. Especially in Drunkship of Lanterns. So yeah, I really liked it. I see what all the fuss is about! Can't wait to listen to Frances the Mute now. =D
