"I can't believe how fast hype dried up for this"

so much content coming out all the time, it's hard to stay relevant

In a couple of years I think people will still be listening to this, which is the real hype

agreed, this album is in it for the long run, despite its immediacy

i still listen to this at least once every day though, rev

True, I just wish this was making a bigger splash, since all the reception it's gotten so far is crazy positive

yea a splash like spare's record woulda been nice, but that was largely because of hype from other musicians. promotion is mostly separate from reception, and you were kinda lacking in the former imo. not that i expected more promotion, however, bcuz your work is super underground.

yeah I'm trying to work my way to establishing myself more but it's hard, especially when you don't have a local audience or tour

I tried to do more blog and publication hype, but after emailing about 50 of them I don't think any bit

I have a lot of friends in the electronic music scene but a large amount aren't super into my stuff cause I don't really make what's popular rn

Would it be cool if I played this in the background of my stream/youtube vids? Youtube has gotten very strict about copyright and stuff like that, and I like to listen to music while I play certain games, but I'm limited if I want to put it on YT. I just want to make sure it's okay with you!

thanks Ty!!

mans yeah Dino! I'm pretty sure the specific Creative Commons my music is licensed under allows for fair use with an artist credit

Don't be bumped out Rev. This is a very very good album and I'm in love with it right now, but it's very hard to generate hype with such an obviously niche product, especially if you don't have any help.

thanks ed! i'm just being really salty cause this was such a time heavy commitment, but i'm happy with the end product and so are most people who've heard it so that's what matters

i'm thinking that my follow up to this will be a lil EP that's more streamlined and digestible than this, so i hope that can get more people's attention than a big time sink of an album haha

I don't know I'm just talking out of my ass right now, but to me personally an LP is way more exciting and if you look at sputnik, you're LPs are better known than your EPs.

Not that I would want to advise you on what you're doing next, obviously I'm in no position to do that =D. But from my personal experience I'd say that an EP these days will have it even harder to get attention with all those great full length releases coming out. I mean, I'd check an EP by you, but I know that I only really check 3-4 EPs per year because I'm so busy with LPs.

People on Sputnik have a different way of consuming music than most people involved in electronic music subculture, which has "usually" revolved around singles and EPs. Full albums, outside of obvious examples like Warp's roster and such, are a rarer medium in the greater scope of things. I mainly want to move onto EPs because they allow me to experiment more in smaller doses, have a more consistent stream of new material, and they're much less heavy on myself to produce. An LP, especially one with as much work put into it conceptually and production-wise as Lumine, was a really difficult challenge that really wore me out mentally and physically. It was worth the effort, but it's not really something I want to jump right back into. my last two "official" releases have been full lengths that took a year and a half (Spiral Power) to over two years (this), so I want to take a break from beefier releases before I move onto the next one

I also want more time to experiment, improve, and hone my craft more so that LP3 can be something really special
