Well, you can't take a guy named Vaginitis seriously.

So I finally got this album the other day and I have to say that I agree with most of the review here. The first 5 tracks are all great songs, but the album does indeed seem to grind to a halt right after that.
My other beef with it, is that most of the album kinda sounds like two different riffs/sounds being replicated: the bouncy and heavy grooves first introduced in "Vicarious" and the soundscapey filler crap.
But they've really outdone themselves in regards to the artwork this time; I would've bought the album for that alone.

Its not that I dont like tool its just that I cant lock in to this one
usualy I dont like their albums at first but then I fall in love with them after about the 2nd or 3rd time listening to it

After listening to this more, I'm kind of growing out of it. First I didn't like it very much, then I loved it, now I think it's okay

I love it still. These guys are just such masters of rhythm.

Good review, and I agree. This album is fantastic.
Under "recommended downloads," I would also add in "Right in Two" as that song is beautiful, and has a Lateralus sort of feel to it. It reminds me of "The Patient." Calm, relaxing, and a wonderful lyrical message.
Nick, good job.
Two thumbs WAY up.

As far as the best songs on the album go, I'd say that Vicarious, Jambi and The Pot are winners for me.

Jambi was pretty good, but not great. I'd have to go with The Pot, the title track, and Rosetta Stoned.

The Pot, Vicarious, Jambi and Roseta stoned are my stand out tracks. The Pot is fantastic.

This is the first Tool album I bought. Vicarious is such a fantasic song, just the lyrics alone are superbly written. Its grown on me quite alot very quickly, even though when I first heard it I thought the vocal mix was a bit too quiet. But who cares when the music is this killer? The whole album (yes, even the 'filler') just absorbs you if you let it. Nice idea wih the packageing aswell!

Vicarious and The Pot are possibly Tool's two best songs ever recorded. They're so incredibly amazing. I'm also starting to get into Jambi alot more because of the chugging breakdown and the talk box solo.

I'm not too sure about the Vicarious and Pot being two of the best Tool tracks. In my opinion, none of the songs on this album are even in thier top five.

Jambi is rated a lot higher after seeing it live. On the album it may not do much for people, but once it kicks in onstage, its up there with any other intense Tool song.
Though the biggest improvement live must go to Rosetta Stoned

I'd consider myself a Tool fan, but I haven't gotten this yet. Am I a bad person?

Not at all. Undertow is finally catching up to this in terms of quality, this may in fact be thier worst album.

Yes. You will burn in hell for this!
but seriously no. I'm a fan and the only album I have is Undertow

I'd get this really quickly if you're a Tool fan. It's their 2nd best album IMO, and clearly has their most technical stuff to date.
God, this album is so good.

Preach it thor! Although there arent any guitar solo's (I do like a good old guitar solo) the riffing is solid and top notch.
