Emperor's great but imo they are the worst of the "classic" 2nd wave bands. This album is really good though

yeh i feel you, i'd never make the argument that darkthrone aren't great, just that they've never personally done anything for me (and in general, the raw bm aesthetic just isn't my cup of tea)

Yeah I feel you, for second wave I prefer the raw sound but I'll never say Emperor and later Immortal aren't great bands with amazing albums.
I'm glad we feel eachother.

I need to give Wrath and Emperor s/t another listen, I remember liking Wrath but not as much as this. That'll give me something to do today at work.
Never listened to pre-Holocaust Immortal tho, I'll check it.

I don't know, Immortal has been all over the place with their records. I think it's hard to make a generalizing statement about their work due to how inconsistent they are.
