Ok danielito, that's fine. I can understand that argument at least a bit. To somebody who doesn't listen to a lot of folk, I can see how the songs are very similar here.
first off this is indie folk, and i listen to a tonne of folk and the songs still sound very similar and homogenous. the atmospheric qualities as ive said before are nice however.
indie folk in general isn't the most invigorating genre for me.
also guys for the record most of you with 4.5 and 5 ratings in this thread have seriously been the most unwilling and absolutely apprehensive about criticism for this record than most any other record thats come out in recent years. get it together. this is a music review site, you've all been here for long enough to like something without expecting the whole world to share your boner for it. i cant speak for danielito but i can see exactly what would make you guys love this album, especially as long time sufjan fans, but not everone is gonna go bonkers over it with you and you dont have to get salty about it. my opinion is somewhere in between danielitos and the things you guys have been saying you love about it. i get what danielito is saying but i dont have a lot of the same problems with it other than that it is a little homogenous and anticlimactic for me. lots of tracks i just feel like skipping halfway through when i realize they aren't going to go anywhere. with an album with this much emotional weight you kind of expect a more emotive release somewhere along the line and when it never comes im left feeling a little underwhelmed.
