Especially when you do it much better than Kubrick originally did
horrible opinion, I know
ehh, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange, and Dr. Strangelove have always been the ones worth watching imo

2001 is one of the greatest movies ever crafted, it was so ahead of its time that even re-watching today in 2014 it still holds up incredibly well.
Intersteller isn't even in the best movies of 2014, aka there is no way it touches the level of 2001. It won't have the effect on sci-fi that 2001 had, and that is honestly one of the biggest measuring sticks of greatness in a movie, when almost every sci-fi movie released after it had at least some element that 2001 first used.

Yeah, there are a couple of movies I would place over this in the top 10 films of 2014, three of them being animated movies.

wasn't best of the year.
My top three this year are:
Boyhood
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Boyhood and Birdman are like tied
and I've yet to see Nightcrawler, would like to as well as James Gray's The Immigrant and Leviathan

I thought this was a very good year for films. Got quite a few movies that I thought were just absolutely fantastic.

There really were, you just have to dig deeper than the mainstream Hollywood blockbuster stuff that was 90% trash with a few notable exceptions, mainly Captain America, Edge of Tomorrow, and X-Men

I managed to avoid all bad movies throughout the year, I just don't care enough to give any of them a chance given how I know how most of them will turn out at this point

I will say this though, a REALLY shit year for religious movies, I mean we usually don't get them THIS badly.

I finally listened to this today, and I can't figure out if I like it or not. I've been listening to Atomos by A Winged Victory for the Sullen non-stop for the past week, and this seemed so derivative of it when played back to back.
Favourite tracks are The Wormhole-->Mountains, and Coward.

this is actually a good soundtrack?
very excited to hear it/see the film if thats the case as Zimmer has usually been generic and mediocre for the majority of his recent films

Went to see the film yesterday and I have to say this is one of the best film soundtracks I've ever heard, I was left on the edge of the seat. A great film and a great piece of work.

Great review, thumbs up to you, sir! I love this but I'm still trying to digest all the little nuances on this score, nowhere close to being able to accurately rate it.

I enjoyed the film score, but I wouldn't go nearly as far as that summary does.
