I feel like Descensus is going to grow on me one day. It took me like 2 years to even like Violent Waves, now I think it's about 3/4 great.

it does have some of their best songs, but overall nowhere near as good as their other stuff imo

a couple of my friends who grew up with bsn in like middle school/early high school worship it, the other few people i know who like the band dig juturna or olg the most

You kids are young, I was over halfway through College when BSN dropped and I saw them twice on tour supporting the record.

yeah i was like 14 or 15 when BSN dropped ¯_(ツ)_/¯ only saw them last november for descensus support

there are few songs on bsn that i find memorable. i prefer it when they're focusing on atmosphere and melodies. the only songs i come back to (and they are superb) are through the desert (surprise), get out, and strange terrain

Add frozen creek to that list and that's basically all I come back to either.

dyed in the wool, strange terrain, glass arrows (sometimes) , and get out are the best songs. the b-sides are all superior to the rest of the songs, and are a lot more fitting to the whole "blue sky" kinda imagery
