~But the female vocals are heavenly~
They are strong, when I first heard them, I thought Hannigan was back for a guest spot or something. But for one thing he finally doesn't sound too good in it, it's overtly long and it is somehow pointless. I mean, there's nothing there for over 6 minutes and the lyrics aren't exactly mind-blowing either.

I don't find anynof these lyrics great; it's all about the atmosphere

Yeah, me neither. He's getting more and more vague with every album, but the first three, Colour Me In and The Box are quite good lyrically. That mix of creating some big lines and still sound sincere is a bit strange and it doesn't resonate with me as much as his more direct songs. But when you get to the last two tracks it's really nothing more than throwing some lines together that sound good.
And I don't think the closer is really good atmospherically.

The last bit of Long Long Way just feels so sincere and less calculated like some of the middle tracks on this. He just sounds like he's singing whatever he feels like, which I like a lot

Well, there isn't much more than him singing not enough, but I know what you mean. But I like him the best, whenever he isn't trying to sound good. It sounds forced. Compared to the whispered parts in Long Long Way or all the climaxes he really sounds best in the first half of It Takes A Lot To Know A Man or The Greatest Bastard. Seems more naturally to me.

What? I thought it Takes A Lot To Know a Man was the most forced song on the album

You're all wrong (joking) I Don't Wanna change You is my least favorite and it's still superb. Every other track on here is perfect in my opinion.

Yeah, I can not stop listening to that ending to It Takes A Lot to Know a Man. That is just perfection

seems like long long way gets a lot of flak but i think it's an immensely satisfying conclusion

Agreed, I thought it was the perfect closer for this kind of album

Definitely wearing off over time - definitely not crap, but it doesn't seem to hold as well as I'd hoped it would. The Box and Long Long Way are still wonderful however.

I can't imagine this being as nice in the summer but whilst it's lovely and cold, this is still nice

Trusty and True is like the soundtrack to a gradual triumph over an emotionally burdensome ordeal. It just feels like music that would play after a devastating breakup, at that moment when you realize you're all you ever need and walk away from the camera, sun peaking through the autumn leaves.

Yeah it's more like: that moment you realize you'll never do better than her because you're a 4/10, so you drink yourself into oblivion and you're late for work.
But that's a different song by a different artist, I'm sure.
