"band plays it safe"

agreed/ way too safe in my opinion. As well executed as it is, a lot of it is too formulaic and contains nothing unique for me. Its just a greatest hits mash of old school dm worship

this rules but doesnt top artificial brain for my fav dm this year because, as people said, its pretty safe. extremely solid, heavy, and tons of great riffs, but nothing really stands out

I could never get into that Artificial Brain album for some reason. Album art definitely rules though.

it's fine to nitpick but in the end if the problems aren't a big deal then they shouldn't distract you from the bigger picture:

that it just fucking riffs

absolutely agree

it's good but if i had to choose between listening to good 90s dm and good 00s dm i would pick the former, simply because of the production 'values' which add another dimension and atmosphere to a lot of those albums

riff's got a point but this sounds like if those same bands from the 90s recorded today

idk if that makes sense wolfe is starting to fly s.s. sleep mountain

what wolfe said, everything goes in cycles and i'm sure at least there will be bands playing this sort of style in about 10 or 20 years time with the same amount of gusto and power

oh yeah Riff has a point, I generally agree. it's just odd to see riff posting without cleverly ripping someone or something (no sarcasm intended)
