Just for the record, RockFan, a 3.7 for WtF is actually a pretty decent score. 3.5 stands for Great, so a 3.7 is solid. Hell, City of Evil has a 3.4 as well which is the equivalent of great as well

Although Ferinus, I should be honest I've only been a fan for maybe 2 years, Hail To The King is the first album I'm here for the release, I got into A7X from a friend shortly after nightmare. So really it just depends on how much you like there music in the first place.

yeah that's another thing I overlooked when coming on this site is the rating system to me 5 meant great, 4 meant good, 3 was okay, 2 was bad and 1 was garbage so I didn't look at that too much... which is why i got all 5's goin haha

Everything has its origin. Before people were smart, they threw rocks at each other.

Yeah generally, anything higher than a 3 I'd consider pretty good around sputnik.

Album Rating: 5.0
in my educated opinion of this sites ratings this is how they should look:
City Of Evil- 3.7
Self Titled- 4
Nightmare- 4.3
Hail To The King- 3.5

My avg rating for all my ratings on my profile is at about a 3.45, if that says anything.

I think a lot of people on Sput are kinda snobby with ratings, considering anything less than around a 3.8ish to not be adequate when in fact a 2.5 simply means the album was neither good nor bad.
|
| |
Hence the word, average.
|
| |
No one would look at a 2.5 and say "oh, maybe I'll like this". They see a 2.5 and think they need to stay the fuck away. It's like when you rate people/movies/video games on a 1-10 and for some retarded reason, people consider 7 to be the new average number. Fucking stupid

Yeah if you think about it a 1 (awful) is 3 steps below an average album while a 5 (classic) is 5 steps above average. This website is predisposed at giving albums a better score. Take the average of the possible rankings (5+1=6 6/2=3) and it ends up having the middle score set up as "good".
By Sputnik's logic a good album is the average assigned value, which probably accounts for the fact people tend to rate music they like more than not.
Of course staff get 0 through 5, which makes it average at 2.5 and is less bias.

So that's why Pitchfork hates TMV.

Xing thats because gaming review sites deliberately skew higher. You don't see the same for movie critics.

Movie critics deliberately skew Lowe-r.

I have a friend who refuses to play any game rated lower than a 7.5 and it just boggles my mind
