you get that i don't just obtain albums exclusively through sputnikmusic, right? and i don't look to
see what the overall average is to validate something's worth, otherwise i'd be missing out on a lot
of great movies/albums that were panned by critics
|
| |
pretty sure mindcrime is hailed as their best almost everywhere, and that fu is called awful everywhere (even on YT comments). and yea you could miss some great albums that way, but in 90% of the cases starting with the bands' highest acclaimed album would be the best choice
|
| |
look, that may very well be the case for you and others, but there are literally thousands of albums on here that are the most acclaimed of their respective bands/genres, but i find myself rarely agreeing with those assertions. i can think of hundreds of cases where that's applicable: radiohead, converge, godspeed, opeth, etc. besides, i just downloaded queensryche's entire discography and happened to listen to that one first. i didn't even refer to sputnik ratings.

what is your point exactly? im just saying that starting with the highest rated album would be wiser than starting with the lowest rated. im not saying that it must be your favourite
|
| |
and i'm saying that i didn't even look at the ratings
|
| |
ok, just listen to operation: mindcrime as soon as you can.
rage for order rules too

I'd say the Viper approach is best for starting a discog,
and the Gyro approach when revisiting one. I've
applied it to Pearl Jam (starting with No Code and
Binaural, and ending with Vs. and Ten) and it worked
like a charm.
Doing something similar with QR, and Q2K, OM:II and
Tribe are growing on me.
|
| |
when revisiting a discog i always like to start at their first, and then i can see their musical evolution, which is pretty sweet

"My two favorites are 'Spore' and 'In This Light'"
"And I'm a combo of the two of you........In This Light and Fallout"
Yeah both good songs. 'In This Light' chorus is awesome.
