Apparently I like plenty of stuff that is/was nu metal.
Limp Bizkit sucked balls from the beginning though. That was always just terrible.

L.D. 50 anyone?
|

yeah now that i think about it theres only like 3 actually solid nu-metal bands that actually do interesting things, but idk it's a pretty vague genre tag i mean i've heard people tag faith no more and primus as nu metal so

well that would be wrong. idk i mean i get why people associate primus with metal, but they're...not, really
|

I saw someone saying NIN was nu-metal once

Agreed, demi.
Kinda seems like it just became a blanket genre and got attached to a bunch of different stuff. Seems a little similar to me with what's been going on with post hardcore for the last several years.

At least it's not as bad as what happened to Screamo

Oh, yeah. That was bad back in the early 2000s. Not gonna lie, I did the same thing with it, but I didn't know any better and wasn't sure what it was actually called until a few years later. I am just surprised that it still happens now, though.
I was talking to someone at work a while back and they referred to Rise Against's last album as screamo just because of the two songs he does some harsh vox in.

Emo got lumped into that for a while, too.

I'm a little glad I never had any sort of knowledge on those kinds of terms until I joined this website
Potentially embarrassing memories avoided

i've actually tried explaining to some kids where emo actually comes from and i always get a look like they don't know wtf i'm talking about
|
| |
i remember at my school anything heavy with screams or either of those things was "emo" or "screamo"
death metal was "emo"
hardcore punk was "emo"
fucking brokencyde was "emo"
|
| |
Oh that ain't nearly as bad as when you talk to your friends who still listen to Linkin Park and such about much better artists
Try to not look like a douchebag, it's fucking impossible
|
| |
Weeeeeellllllllll to be fair Emo emerged from Hardcore Punk so I guess I can see a little confusion about that
|
| |
yeah. i just don't bother talk about that kinda music with anyone unless i already know theyre into
the "real stuff", otherwise i have to play the hipster teacher role and i hate that... unless the
person is genuinely interested, which is cool but also rare

yeah fair enough but as if any of those plebs know that. I'm talking people thinking Bad Brains were
in the same genre as Asking Alexandra and Alexisonfire. ALL EMO

"otherwise i have to play the hipster teacher role and i hate that... unless the

when the person's actually interested that's always one of the coolest moments ever
|
| |
Whenever misused labels are used I just always remain silent and pretend I agree, but thankfully that doesn't happen too often
There's about one or two people I've met that are genuinely interested in that shit and I was like I'm finally gonna have someone I know personally to talk about this and it was probably one of the coolest days in a while

Well this topic just exploded didn't it!
This is why I hate subgenres altogether. Everything gets mixed up and labelled incorrectly. For me, I dont give a crap what genre somebody decides music belongs to. If it sounds good, thats all that matters.
