"The album art for this is so terrible it's almost offensive."
Yeah, I'm curious too. Would you care to elaborate?

It's like someone was trying to think of some ideas for the cover art and found two pictures that vaguely related to the concept/feel they had in mind and then just decided to give those pictures to their 8 year old son to merge together in Photoshop and then slap the logo on there somewhere.

or,

lunn took a picture somewhere in kentucky, then superimposed a picture of a coal miner that had some importance to him or inspiration, and then put the logo on there

really don't see the big deal

That might very well be how it happened, I'm just saying how it looks to me.

The artwork definitely seems cheesy af, and that's not near the best landscape shot he could have taken in the area. Just seems to have been made quickly and amateurishly tbh

Do you mean to say you've been to that specific area?

like i'm not saying this is the greatest artwork ever, but this seems like such an odd nitpick to me.

i agree with zaru that it's his worst album art, but by no means bad

certainly not 'so bad it's offensive' (what does that even mean?)

Album still rules honestly. Transitions are a bit wonky but I still like it a lot.

Yeah I like to think of this album as a beautiful mess, I totally see where he was going with it, even if it's far from perfect. plus like rufin i love the concept and theme

"certainly not 'so bad it's offensive' (what does that even mean?)"

It means it annoys me. In this case I am using the term offensive to mean that it causes annoyance. It is annoyingly amateurish looking.

I get what you mean. I don't think its terrible, but it definitely looks like it took all of 5 minutes to make.
Still need to listen to this, too.

okay so it's so terrible it's almost offensive, and, by using your word replacement, we get:

"so terrible it's almost annoying"

and we also get

"It is annoyingly amateurish looking"

??

this is what happens when you use hyperbole

None of it was hyperbole.

The word offensive can be used to describe something that someone finds objectionable, annoying, irritating etc.

it absolutely is hyperbole, it is disingenuous to say that wording your reaction to the art as 'so bad it's offensive' is supposed to mean "so bad it's offensive to me using my specific interpretation of the word offensive to mean that it annoys me". If you wanted to say that it annoyed you, you'd have said it annoys you. Saying it's offensive carries other connotations that go further than annoyance, and trying to say that the word is open for interpretation doesn't change that.
