I just think that heavy low doom-y side of the instrumentation is too undeniably metal to ignore. I also just like to stick to "post-metal" whenever possible; feels more general and encompassing and allows for influences of any other genres or sub-genres like "shoegaze" - like I would call Godflesh a "post-metal" band as well before I'd call them "industrial metal"

This album sounds as a fresh and engaging as when it first came out. It’s genuinely life affirming, whilst also clearly being a product of the self loathing JKB was exercising at the time. To say Justin initially had problems replicating this live is an understatement, but he’d massively improved by the second time I saw them, where he had a live drummer and not just a laptop.

I really love the first version of Never There for You, but yeah not sure how I feel about the other tracks yet... I'm sure they'll grow on me. It's just a tease for the Terminus LP that I guess is scheduled for a November release

interesting
i dunno if the context of the full album will make sense of it all but yeah, those tracks are just way too busy and dense, it's hard to even make sense of them.

it would have made perfect sense for Justin to make it a Pale Sketcher release instead, but for some reason, he seems to be done with that moniker... I believe his exact words on a recent post were "Pale Sketcher is dead - long live jesu"
I have a feeling that the LP later this year will be in a different style altogether and that Never was just getting out some tracks he's been sitting on (it's dated 2009-2020 on the bandcamp page)... but then again, it could end up being a continuation with a similar sound
