the band recently scored a #1 hit in US pop charts
thoughts?

I am already sick of hearing "We Are Young"
"so lets set the world on ffiiiIIIIIERRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEE"
is cringe worthy
title track rules tho

The guy who said you need to chop your balls off to like this stuff is right, but thats the way I feel about most indie pop and I like my balls thank you very much. Yeah Im a tough guy wut.

Title track is the best song on the album by far. I don't mind the autotune at all on this, I can't see why everyone is making such a big stink about it. They are a pop band after all

This record was inevitably going to get a lot of hate for all sorts of different reasons.
-It's pop and it isn't cool to like pop
-It's now popular and it isn't cool to like popular things
-It's a new sound, so it wouldn't transition well to some fans
Where as I think it's a rather well layered and thought out album, with some song-writing hiccups, especially for Nate Ruess but anything that can be musically clever and catchy at the same time is cool in my books. =)

Nate can perform the vocals so well live

stereo the definition of popular is that a lot of people like it...

I took my gf last week to see fun. and she had a great time, kinda felt gay singing the vocals to walking the dog when she was there but oh well

I haven't tuned into the radio for semesters now so I'm out of the loop, is it really top 40 now?

I mean from a different audience's perspective Rudy. =)
Some people take pride in the fact that they listen to unconventional and simply unknown music.
So they'll immediately hate fun. just for being popular or if they liked them before say; "I used to
like them before they were mainstream."
Like everything with judging music; people aren't always openly subjective and clear minded. A lot of
social factors and psychological reflexes come into play too.
I.E "Who will I be if I listen to this and how will other people see me?"
