They're not breaking down any doors. But...this one's got my attention more so than the last 2. And I really liked Wrath. The more I hear it ...the more it sinks in and I like it.

Sacrament is incredibly overproduced, most noticeably with the vox
I mean I like this album, but there's just a huge chunk in the middle that's rather boring. And what's all the fuss surrounding 'King Me'? It's easily their weakest closer

King Me was one of my favorites from this though

Vigil is the best closer Lamb of God will ever have, but King Me is pretty great

Wrath's better

These guys write some pretty good songs, but they are quickly becoming a "party" metal band imo.

just sounds like lamb of god 3/5

I prefer Wrath as well
The thing with that album was that the band got caught up in trying to write more "catchy" material - sort of along the lines of 'Now You've Got Something To Die For'. As a result of that they kinda lost the technicality that they had become known for. This is the opposite - the technicality is back, but now, as a result, we lose anything overly memorable. Tracks 4 -13 simply bleed into each other

Yeah. Wrath was a collection of a few great songs and a few unmemorable ones. Here, I think they try
to simplify things (focusing mainly on the technicality for the whole album) and it just makes them
all boring. There's barely any harmony between the different parts. They said the writing
process was more 'focused' for this album than previous ones. Didn't really explain in what way though

If they're focusing on technicality rather than being catchy and straight forward, how are they simplifying things? Seriously, read that out loud and tell me that ain't fucking stupid.

"And what's all the fuss surrounding 'King Me'? It's easily their weakest closer"
couldn't agree more, their best is either Vigil or Reclamation

I knew that'd be misunderstood.
I mean the concept is simpler. The concept of how to create aggressive music, if you see what I mean...

Nope, still doesn't make any sense because however you put it, trying to be more technical and varied musically as opposed to being catchy and straight forward is not "simplifying things".
And yes, the songs are more varied dynamically here, compared to Wrath, even if the main focus is constantly on the technicality.

i get it.
|

king me just has "look a me i'm trying to be a closer" written all over it.

it maintains practically the same level of aggression for the entire album though, interspersed with a few quieter parts which do little to build it up. It really does sound like they're going through the motions and the songs just blend together
|

ugh
can't we just pretend this album doesn't exist
