Yeah, I was talking about those megamixes they put together on Youtube. Some of the artists in those mixes are pretty good.

16bit is pretty awful imo
|
| |
How well he does a lot of the sample cuts well, how clean and polished it all is, the layering and
song structures (okay, well when there's more to the structure than building up to a bass drop) .
there's more to it than just trying to make the filthiest, power-tool sounding bass wobbles there are.
I mean I'm not sure if you hate it or think it's okay (probably the former) but that First of the Year
(Equinox) song is pretty well-done in my opinion.

16bit is dope you're awful
|
| |
but he cuts up the same 3 vocal samples in every song
*Skrillex, not 16bit

good internet

latch onto the trend my friend
|
| |
His vocal samples are usually different aside from being high-pitched, tho.
|
| |
but they're not
the chick screaming is used before EVERY drop
|
| |
He has used screaming a few times to introduce drops but he uses different samples each time (there could be an exception but I can't think of any)
|
| |
i'm sure it's the same sample, just cut up differently
then again, I don't actively listen to Skrillex, so it could just be that they sound exactly the same
|
| |
Scary Monster's and First Of The Year clearly use two completely different samples. For a lot of his remixes he uses and cut from the original song that he re-works with a bunch of effects.
|
| |
Ohgeez, I'm not talking about the vocal samples before the drop.
the screaming is only used for a few songs, though.
I meant vocal cuts like the kind he's doing throughout this song:

i liked his really old stuff better,
|

His My Name Is Skrillex/Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites days were the shiz
|
| |
Skrillex would be a lot better if he always wasn't trying to throw as many different sounds as possible into the mix. It's as if he is completely unaware of the virtue of restraint

Skrillex would be better if he didn't sound like Skrillex.

"there are distinct things skrilly does in each of his songs."
This was a few pages back, but I can't believe this is a defense of him. Songs should be distinct, there shouldn't be "distinct things" in songs.

oh did you write the music dictionary? songs should always be distinct not have distinct things?
anyone can do whatever the fuck they want with music and they're better than any critic of them for
doing it. "sounding exactly the same" gets tossed around like a slur... why not try to listen to
each
song and get the most out of each instead of thinking "oh i analyze this song to be much too similar
to that last one, i'm pissed..."?

sure he definitely likes making loud noise that's what his shows really thrive on. i don't see how
that would be better. it might tickle your imaginary fancy more
