It's not a widely recognised genre, it's just downbeat indie sad stuff really

I prefer this to Rollercoaster by a whisker and it beats United Kingdom and California from AMC

Def my favourite Low album from the six I've listened to

Who else are slowcore? Mind is blank right now

codeine is another classic band of the slo-core persuasion

also love, claire is a really underrated band, codeine-ish but more post rock

there's quite a lot out there but duster, codeine and bluetile lounge make up the best of what i've heard. each only have a few albums but they're all A+++, especially bluetile lounge who are painfully underheard here

Doof you mention AMC California but I'd say that's folk rock/alt-country no?

The Bedhead debut is another great one, might bump it to a 5 when I listen to it a bit more, a lot noisier than this - guess it's still 'slowcore'

Boney - for some reason they're labelled slowcore.

We are starting to touch on why I dislike too specific genre labels.

That's strange about AMC - California and this are really nothing alike. But I guess that means this is technically my second slowcore album fwiw.

Certainly genre labels can get a bit arbitrary the more specific you go but at the same time it's nice to have something more specific to label things - for example it feels kind of weird to call this album "indie rock" because it doesn't really "rock"

At the end of the day though labels are just labels and they're really not all that important

I keep starting this, but life keeps getting of the way of finishing it.

The last three songs (ignoring Sunshine) are possibly the three best though

I haven't - I know their discog starting at 'Things We Lost' pretty well but this is the first of their earlier albums I checked

Strange that arguably the two best albums of '94 both close with an ironic cover of 'Sunshine'

The other one being?

I enjoyed this more the second time around. I'm loving the guitar tones here.

Therapy? 'Troublegum' - it's a hidden track

I think this will grow to at least a 4 for you, hoping so anyway

"Lullaby" is very post-rock, I dig it.
