Thats a real good review, like the background infomation a lot.
I wasnt impressed with Hypnotize personally, i bought it on its release day but was disappointed to find that it was pretty much one dynamic all the way through - hard, loud and fast - which made the songs blend together a bit, where Mezmerise had a lot more ideas worked in together.
Best songs are Soldier Side, Vicinity of Obscenity and Attack

Thats a really well constructed review. I haven't heard either of these albums now i want to.

Great review. Better than Mezmerize, but still one of SOAD's worst albums. Which is still really, really good. Soldier Side, Kill Rock And Roll, and Vicinty Of Obscenity are my favorites from this album. This Message Edited On 04.01.06

Excellent review. I think Hypnotize is the more superior album from the double offering. Mezmerize has a greater input from Daron with lyrics and lead vocals, and while he is good at both, he is more 'ordinary' than Serj. Serj's lyrics are harder and faster and his vocals hugely diverse and stirring. I like Kill Rock and Roll, Attack and Soldier Side but my favourite track must be Holy Mountains. I love Serj's vocals. Yeah, this album's a bit of a grower - even though it's their least diverse in terms of content. Favourite track is Holy Mountains without a doubt. Great riff.
Your review was excellent – However, I found the conclusion to be overly pretentious.
Background Information and History lesson = good. It’s epic despite its duration; soulful despite its brashness; beautiful despite its underlying anger. It’s a tale of young men, sent to war with foolish hope of return. All young men must go. It’s a tale of mothers, of families, watching their child leave to no hope of return. All young men must go. God is wearing black. All young men must go. This quote = showy ending which comes close to spoiling what is other wise a great piece of work. Sorry, but reaching for the tissues, I ain’t.This Message Edited On 02.23.06

Its a very political message, but thats what SOAD write songs some about. I'm not rushing for the tissues, but it does make you think.

The album was okay. I prefer Mezmerize.

While I still find this album ok, I find both halves of the double album overly done and boring. Mezmerize has 2 good songs on it, and Hypnotize has 1.
|
| |
Then why did you give it a 3.5?
And what was the one good song on it?

And what were the two good songs on Mezmerize?

The 2 good songs on MEzmerize was Lost In Hollywood and BYOB. The rest was boring.
Hypnotize has a more solid album, quite good and harder, but Hypnotize is the only amazing song.
