I'm not guessing this can't be associated with dubstep, only that people use it as the foremost term because it's getting popular. Maybe if trip-hop was mad popular they'd call him a trip-hop singer-songwriter.

No one's calling this dubstep because it's the popular term, it's because it is dubsetp. Like I said up the top this is just another example of where the genre could go. I mean, what's throwing you off here? Is is the vosals? The gospel inspirations? The sometimes lack of a beat?

Dubstep? You guessed it

When you say that dubstep is getting popular, you're referring to stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H1lZyix-I0 but that's only one aspect of the genre, and it's not how the genre started out

Can someone please tell me what's so special about this album? I've listened to it 3 times and it's pretty good, I guess. Just nothing special. Don't get all the hype.

The only way someone cannot see that this album is dubstep, is if they are entirely unaware of dubstep's connection to 2-step garage.

It's more than just a simple connection, it's part of the genre's identity
