i don't remember where it was or if it's still online but some years ago i read a review that was so histrionically angry about World Around Me's existence, through my Nintendo DS's internet browser (of all things...I remember that) one day, and I had a bit of a WTF culture shock moment. I know not everyone's into melodramatic balladry but this reviewer seemed genuinely ANGRY anyone liked or related to the subject matter. i think that's among the first sources of me knowing about sites like this

Lmao many such cases it seems, ya I swear there was some review going in excruciating detail about how World Around Me was a sappy melodramatic piece of shit while including casual homophobia, just kinda made me cling to it harder. Doubt anyone remembers this and I don't think its even online anymore because I've never been able to find it again. I feel like I hallucinated it but with how brutal the site used to be, what with KILL writing "the notes themselves are gay" i feel like it was real
