What most regard as wank on this album I only see as another factor to this album's cinematic qualities. From Deloused I always got a book-like vibe, while listening to this entire album in a sitting is like watching a film for me. While Deloused is way more tight and the material is ultimately better, I find Frances to be more ambitious and ultimately more rewarding.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with this review, I think most of the ambient stuff is pretty annoying, but I love pretty much every song apart from that.

Great review, you went against the norm and backed up your arguments nicely. My buddy told me to check out De-loused, it was actually pretty suprising as I didn't think I'd like it. I then checked this out and it was pretty much all over the place. De-loused was out there at times but not as overbearingly as this. Gonna check out At The Drive-In.
