He got scared by it? I mean backwards this is probably still a 4 so that's the only thing that explains it.

eh. i always liked this a bit less than mhtrtc and lately they've both kinda fallen off for me. this has never been higher than a 4 for me and it's always teetering 3.5 - 4 . i'll prob go on a boards kick in like a month and bump it up again

ok, this was 5 once: I was laying in bed with no light at all and headphones playing to this. despite listening to the album for more than 2 years, it scared the shit out of me. an immense claustrophobic feeling aroused and I felt really uncomfortable. never got past 1969

I've never understood how people could be scared by music. The only time an album ever frightened me at all was, while doing the same thing you described, with eyes closed, the last track from the Dutch band Domini Inferi's Devil Cult - but that wasn't actually music anyway, just the sounds of blazing fires with babies wailing for over ten minutes. Anyway, that laying in bed with lights off and headphones on is by far the best way to really listen to an album.

Would you consider this ambient? I never would, but I see people call it that all the time, even on wikipedia

The ambiance is pretty blatant on songs like "In the Annexe"

Yeah, you guys are right

It just feels weird seeing this grouped together with Phaedra, The Refinement of the Decline, and Substrata
